About This Game Welcome everyone! The Age of Fear: The Undead King Gold is the outcome of almost seven years of work on the original game, initially released in 2011. Over this period we listened to our amazing Community and implemented new features, mechanics and more content. Lots of new content in fact! Thank you for supporting us - you guys are the best!
First and foremost, we are adding a sandbox layer (extended World Map) to the game while keeping both campaigns. It took us a long time to introduce procedurally generated battles and shops, but the effect is well-worth it - according to our testers it at least doubles the playtime! Oh, did I mention themed factions' (upgradeable) bases?
The Age of Fear universe has evolved tremendously as well during that same period. Through the series, there are now six playable factions, each with its own lore and unique units. Currently, the game features more than two hundred units (from the initial forty) with almost 800 (!) unique spells, abilities and items. That is a lot of variety!
To better introduce the player to the AOF universe, we have added multiple extra dialogues, cinematic battles and legendary landmarks along with events. On top of those expansions, the engine was reworked, graphics were improved and even completely replaced, and the really good AI was enhanced further (which is the trademark of the series!).
I would like to welcome you to the Age of Fear: The Undead King Gold!
I hope you will enjoy it at least as much as we did while creating it!
FEATURE LIST⭐HEX-FREE BATTLES - test your tactics with a novel movement system where size matters and units aren't constrained by artificial grids!

Love the changes brought with the GOLD version:
I haven't had as much time as I would like to play but I have had some and overall it plays like any other age of fear game with, in my opinion, the best storylines in the series. Not to say I didn't like the stories from 2 or 3 just that the 1st entry is always the nearest and dearest to me for this series. So far I haven't made a whole lot of progress but what progress I have made makes me confident to give this game a thumbs up as it has everything about the original that was great with the development and features of later entries with the addition of a home base you can return to and build which is already my favorite thing in the short time I have played. The only negative is I still don't know what constitutes a "day" in the game that a number of events operate off of, otherwise its a good game in a series that deserves more attention than it has gotten in my opinion. I will say, however, I am not a fan of launch day dlc and so I haven't really looked at any of the dlc content that launched with the game and will be playing through the base game proper before really looking that them.
If you like "Age of Fear: The Free World" (you can just play it for free right here on steam) this is a pretty safe pickup.
Age of Fear Gold brings some new and very refreshing content to the already solid foundation from AoF 1, 2, 3, and the Free World.
I've always enjoyed this game. The graphics are not "cutting edge" but the gameplay is enjoyable and that's what matters to me. I've just started the upgraded Gold version of the game and I can already see lots of improvements. Will, you enjoy it? Who knows but I do, therefore, I highly recommend it.
Its great. Not much for words. Banana!
This is a very entertaining and tactical game. There is a good amount of items you can equip on characters and the blocking mechanic gives you a real sense of arranging a real battle line since your enemies can't just pass through your troops like in some other games. The story is also good and the new additions of faction bases and the more sandbox experience is very welcome. I look forward to the new releases coming in the series and the new content for the previous games, it is a fun and engaging world that has been created here. There is secret loot to be found too which is always good.
This is a really good game and I highly recommend it. If you like Battle for wesnoth you might even like this MORE.
Never judge a book by its cover. I was very surprised when found this diamond among many of indie-games. Nice design is pleasing to the eyes, great music, very nice story line, which is voiced in the form of a fantasy story - all that are creates the atmosphere of the game, that very addictive and don't let you go. Very nice Turn-based fights like Heroes or Kings Bounty series. You can proceed main story or play random fights to raise your hero and troops. HUGE amount of artifacts and items. Random encounters with rewards and traps. If you like hardcore you can choose "Death Seeker" difficulty, that gives a huge challenge to every experienced player. You even can choose option "Items for troops" and gear them with artefacts, that can break difficulty but also can give a new experience for playing.
Games in this series are lots of fun. A review for one applies to them all really. When they add content to one game, the other games will eventually get it too. The difference is the story campaigns for each game.
Great Turn based game. with army development.
Fun game with a lot of different troops type and the world map gives you a nice progression.
