The government is non-existent and society, struggling against pollution, stagnation, catastrophic climate change and gang warfare, is at the point of collapse. Based on a board game from the 80s, Dark Future: Blood Red States is a tactical car combat strategy game set in the near future in an American wasteland ruled by a number of warring factions with armoured cars with big guns. The game consists of multiple seasons, with each season seeing you assume a new role fighting for or against these factions. With each season, you have a choice of missions to undertake, be it Escort missions, where you have to escort a vehicle a certain distance, or to just kill as many opponents as you can.

Not only is this game a lot of fun, but it's a pretty original game, to boot.

This game has so much potential unfortunately it comes up a bit short.

I for one really enjoy this game. I also like Blasted Road Terror, Death Skid Marks, and Convoy was ok to me. Maybe cause I grew up at a time when Mad Max was popular and I loved all types of Car Combat I am biased toward this. One of my favorite games of all time is Roadwar 2000 (which I would love a remake of) and I didn't get to play it as much as I wanted to, but Autoduel as well.

So i'm calling you all Cyberpunk and post-apocalyptic 80's.

Would not waste my time with this. Its like you are driving a slot car on a track and you manage when to fire the guns. So really kinda pointless game play.

Man this game is sweet. Was waiting literally years for this to release and I am not disappointed. The only thing that would be better for me would be if the game was completely turn based, but what we have is good enough to satisfy those looking for a chunky tactical game that scratches that Car Wars itch. The "EZ Drive" feature is unique and gives you enough control without being too overwhelming, and when the action ramps up in a mission you will be frantically trying to figure out who to attack next, or how best to position your car so you can take out multiple guys at once. Also, the varied missions add a decent amount of variety while the progression of the various challenges always gives you something to work toward. Tabletop purists might be a little turned off by the real time aspects of the game, but if you can get over that, its a great time that keeps you wanting to play just one more mission until its 2am and you wonder where the time went.

I am very happy with this game. I can relive the board game that I played more than 30 years ago.

I try to be as honest as possible, I often try random games that don't look good, this was one of them. I was like meh .. but whatever let's give it a go. I got offer via keymailer so I accepted it. I wanted to do a quick FIRST LOOK video on the game and see if my audience likes it and then decide if I should make more or not, but ended up playing 3 hour session .. it's quite addictive once you get into it! That said, here's my first look video:

Super un optimized name, but a h00t of a game so far. It's engaging pretty mindless and fun. Its the XCON of post apocalyptic highway car explosion! 8/10 so far.

I tried this game because I was in the mood to play something different, and this hit the spot. It's a simple strategy game that has surprisingly well balanced missions. What I mean by that, is that if you try to be lazy on any mission worth completing, you will get destroyed. If you slow time down and try to make the best use of your weapons, each 2 or 3 skull rated mission becomes a perfect challenge where you're often completing it right at the skin of your teeth. It's gratifying and addictive.
