Devious Dungeon user review
LOVE LOVE LOVE! I used a controller.. It's your classic pixelated platformer with RPG elements - 5 'levels' with a boss at each stage.. You have to clear 3 levels to unlock the next save.. It's not easy, it's not overly hard - it was a lot of fun and I can't wait for number 2! As you go through the dungeon you collect coins to level up various aspects to your kit - if you're like me, you will want to see what the end gear is, and it was worth the bit of grinding -- but I love that you have to buy the gear, you don't just find it.. Cool names for items, some clever plays on words... The enemies were pretty cool and everything kind of almost evolve as the game progresses.. The maps are all randomly generated and quite awesome looking! Hidden entrances to find on every level (I think) which give you bonuses.. It was really enjoyable.. Being the achievement hunter I am, I finished everything - they are easy enough to get if you play the game in full.. Would I pay the price tag for it? Yes - I played it for 10 hours - granted I didn't rush through it - so maybe 6-7 if you're rushing through?! I consider $1 for an hour of game play incredibly worthwhile! Definitely recommend if you like this sort of game!
Welcome to the fantasy medieval universe of Devious Dungeon, a casual pixel graphic, hack & slash dungeon crawler with RPG elements. Taking control of the King’s Knight, you will be tasked with cleansing the dungeons that are situated below the worlds of the minions of evil, who have overtaken the dungeons. Many fantastical beasts dwell within the bowels of the dungeons, and their powers and strengths are varied. Dispatch them to the land of the dead, collecting coins that they drop to purchase upgrades. Find the necessary keys to open the portal to the next level, then clear the levels before you leave for more money in order to upgrade. Fight your way through the levels till you face the bosses at the ends of the worlds. With an XP system to increase your stats as well as the purchasable upgrades, you will battle and complete missions to build your strength and fight your way to the boss levels. The randomized levels mean no two games are ever the same; there is no getting stuck on a single level over and over again!
pretty good! could see myself playing this all the way through!
I am happy I got a chance to play this game, but I’m not really sure where it fits in on pc gaming. The levels are clever and random, the music is okay, the enemies are cute. The combat is fun and entertaining...
A solid action/platform with light RPG elements. Maps are randomly generated, and you hit a checkpoint to continue from, every three levels. The RPG mechanism of the game is when you visit the "town" for upgrades in minimal form, such as upgraded weapon, armour etc. Tier of upgrades unlock with every purchase, and the currency is the coin you get from killing enemies or bashing items.
Thoroughly surprised with this little title.
Kinda boring to be honest. Music sucks. Controls are a bit wonky. Would play Rogue Legacy instead if i wanted something like this.
This is a pretty cool game.
So It's hard for me to put this into words but I'm going to give it a try. I think the game is really fun and a great call back to retro style platformers of the past. The boss battles are challenging and fun, the enemies have enough variation as you get lower in the dungeon for them to keep being interesting and challenging. The artwork is retro and at times down right cute, I love the designs of the enemies. The controls are simple, two buttons, jump and attack, again bringing you back to the old days of retro gaming. All in all everything is really great and fun, It only took me about 6 1/2 hours to beat the game, but that's because I did a lot of farming to try and get the cool new armor and weapons, which I still haven't unlocked them all.
Fun little game that takes around 3-4 hours to complete 100%
This game succeeds where I feel that Orangepixel fails with games like Meganoid and Heroes of Loot
Played with an Xbox Controller
