About This Game
Draugen is a single-player, first-person
Fjord Noir tale of suspense and mystery, set in 1920s Norway.
About Draugen
From the studio that brought you Dreamfall Chapters, and the creative team behind The Longest Journey and The Secret World, comes a first-person psychological mystery set in 1920s Norway.
The year is 1923. You play Edward Charles Harden, an American traveller who's come to Norway to find his missing sister. But you're not alone: at every step of the way, Edward's accompanied by his ward, Lissie; a gregarious, independent and enigmatic young woman. Together, you must explore this scenic coastal community — nestled amongst the fjords and mountains of rural Norway — in your search for Edward's sister, and unearth the darkness that lies beneath the picturesque surface.
Key features
- "I am not alone": explore 1920s coastal Norway accompanied by a living, breathing, independent companion
- Interact with your companion, Lissie, through a realistic and dynamic dialogue system
- Experience a thrilling tale through the eyes of an increasingly unreliable narrator
- Find your own path through a scenic setting that changes with the weather and Edward's mental state
- "A story about what lies beneath": piece together a gripping narrative with unexpected twists and turns
Additional features
- A beautiful original musical score from award-winning composer Simon Poole (Dreamfall, The Secret World, The Park, Dreamfall Chapters)
- Written by Ragnar Tørnquist (The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, The Secret World, Dreamfall Chapters)
- Designed and developed by the team behind Dreamfall Chapters
- Fully voiced in English, with motion-captured characters

Draugen user review
Draugen is a gorgeously beautiful adventure game in the "interactive movie"/"walking simulator" subgenre. Something that usually means that it's low on puzzles/gameplay and high on story and exploration. Sadly, Draugen fails to deliver on the latter. The story starts off good enough, with a mysteriously abandoned norwegian town and a general ominious atmosphere that certainly has its moments. However, it falls flat in the end, with a single, rather annoying NPC character as your only companion, a "twist" you could see from a mile away, as well as a rather limited sense of genuine exploration.
I would like to like this game. I enjoy walking simulators in general and I love a good mystery.
I enjoyed many aspects of this game but ultimately found it unsatisfying. For me, it all comes down to the characters, Edward and Lissie. They are simultaneously the best parts and the worst parts of the game. Lissie, on her own, is a fascinating character, full of wit, charm, and boundless vivacity. However, next to Edward--the tired archetype of a stoic man suppressing the emotions of his troubled past--she functions as a sort of Manic Pixie Dream Girl, directing all her energy toward him and his concerns. While he continually treats her as a pest, she flowers him with encouragement and beckons him with saccharine terms of endearment. It's jarring to say the least. Lissie does eventually get fed up with him, of course, but by that point, it only serves to reinforce her role as a mere foil in Edward's story.
Draugen a story based game with an outstanding atmospherical environment.
For a game with such a price mark, even having a special edition with are and everything, I did expect a game that would take a lot longer to play through. I want to be honest, the story is good. You uncover it as you play and it is quite enjoyable to say the least.
5/10
It is some time since I finished playing this game, but I still haunts me, I keep thinking of this place. Its story.
Short, but sweet. No jump-scares.
The game is graphically beautiful but I cant recommend this game as i got annoyed by it in 40 minutes. The guy who is in the village to find his sister who is missing for years doesnt care about exploring the rooms/ houses fully and just peek and decide its nothing there, doesnt care about collecting the evidences he finds. His companion is annoying af and doesnt add anything to what the protagonist is finding, completely neglecting things protagonist finding of his sister even tho she never probably even saw her. I dont even know why she is with him in the first place. Controls are ok for a walking simulator.
Этакий Gone Home в скандинавском антураже.
Not TOO much to say here, since it's a typical "walking simulator" - somewhat short, narrative-driven, some mystery to it, etc.
I like walking simulators, but this one is
Definitely a bit annoyed by the characters, however, I did enjoy the story.
This is an interactive story. Very well done. It keeps you interested. What will happen? Whats going on? Why is it going on or why did it happen? If you like a good story that is gripping. And not very fast paced. Then, this is for you.
What I liked about Draugen:
I Thoroughly enjoyed this game. The animation and scenery are beautiful, the music is absolutely gorgeous, the characters are enjoyable, and the story doesn't lose stride. However, There was a twist in the story that I saw coming from a mile away, in fact before I ever bought the game I had come to the correct conclusion just from watching the trailer. But I wouldn't say that it totally detracts from the story, just that it doesn't leave that as much impact when you know what's coming. The only other complaint that I would have is that the game gives the presentation of being open world/freedom of choice, but it definitely railroads you the entire time. All in all I would give it an 8/10 just because the beauty of it makes up for so much.
Pros
I'm not a huge fan of story-based games, but i would 100% recommend everyone to try this game out.
