Tondbert, loyal Guard to the Castle of Wrinklewood, is having a rough day. A little too much ale at the local pub, a lapse in judgement, and the next thing you know a hooded figure has slipped into the kingdom and kidnapped the princess -- an event that will have consequences well into the future.

BottomLine at the Top: A high quality retro pixel point and click adventure with great art but lacking in story. Still, I recommend it for all P&C aficionados!

a nice and simple adv game, it is not that long to finish which is a shame, but definetly worth it if you enjoy adv games, you can notice the programers love in the product.

A charming point and click adventure that cleverly unites two very different universes (and that's all I'm saying about that, you'll have to find out how exactly on your own). If you're like me and you get all warm and fuzzy inside when pixelated heroes traipse around the lovely rendered scenery and get up to all kind of goofy shenanigans, this game's for you. A lot of love went into crafting the background art, and it all feels very Terry Pratchett-y, if that's even a word. Love it.

I fully recommend this game as a new fix for people who miss the comedy, gameplay and aesthetics of classic point and clicks like Discworld, Monkey Island and Simon the Sorcerer.

An unabashed love letter to the cult ‘little’ point and click adventures of the 90’s, executed with panache. Guaranteed to bring a smile to the lips of veteran adventure gamers but it will be hard pressed to impress the younger generation of players.

Within the first few moments of Guard Duty, hidden away with the enforced subtlety of a well-aimed half brick to the face, you will find a reference to 1995 point-and-click ‘classic’, Discworld. This is not by accident; Sick Chicken Studio’s debut outing less wants to be like the pixel-plotted adventure games of the 90’s and more outright wants to be one. It borrows heavily from their founding foundations, presenting inventory puzzles and bizarrely broken lateral logic atop a veneer of satire and ludicrousness. For example, Monkey Island had Guybrush, a pirate wannabe so hopeless no crew wanted any part of him. Discworld had Rincewind, a man so absolutely inept at any form of magic he could only call himself a wizard via an obscure technicality. So Guard Duty has Tondbert, who has only found employment because even guards need someone to bully.

To make it short if you expect any difficult puzzles, headscratchers or thinking around corners, this game isn't for you. The difficulty is really low it almost plays itself. But if want a short but humorous story with a few dark elements and a pinch of Cthulhu mythos, you can get a good time out of it.

The adventure game genre seems a little oversaturated with somber detective stories. As much as I enjoy those, I love nothing more than some good laughs, some vibrant colors - and I'm a sucker for cartoons! Guard Duty fills that void on all counts.

This game scratches every adventure game itch I've had for the last twenty years! The graphics, while low res, are gorgeous, the humour is well written, and the nods and homages to earlier adventure game pioneers are plentiful.

Guard Duty is a short and sweet adventure game that evokes classics such as Monkey Island and Simon the Sorcerer in its style. It uses gorgeous pixel art to create two distinct worlds - a silly fantasy land and a gritty cyberpunk future. These two timezones come together in the plot for a strange and hilarious story. I don't think I've seen a point 'n' click combine settings in such an irreverent way.

Very fair price for a game that keeps you good company for a couple of hours. Puzzles are simple and logic so you don't get stuck - you only take a sec to think, dialogues are fun though repetitive at times, aesthetic is very pleasant and nostalgic. The story plays a marginal role, as it's only there to put you in all the little situations that form the game, but it's good enough. Overall, a game worth playing, not a very long one but one that'll make for a tiny, good, lasting memory. Not like the many AAA games you spend hundreds of hour and you forget the minute you finish them.

This was wild! Nice little adventure for a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Charming pixelated 2d point & click adventure game. Story is fun, puzzles are for the most part logical and occasionally the game drops suptle hints if you take too many tries to solve a puzzle (big plus for younger players).
