About This Game

Pathologic 2 is a narrative-driven dramatic thriller about fighting a deadly outbreak in a secluded rural town. The town is dying. Face the realities of a collapsing society as you make difficult choices in seemingly lose-lose situations. The plague isn’t just a disease. You can’t save everyone.

The plague is devouring the town. The chief local healer is dead, and you are now to take his place. You’ll have to look for unexpected allies. The local kids are hiding something. Try playing by their rules.

You only have 12 days.

12 days in an odd town ravaged by a deadly disease.
Time is of the essence: if you don’t manage it carefully, it’ll simply run out. You’ll have to choose how to spend the priceless minutes you have.
Survival thriller. You’ll have to manage your bodily functions, offsetting hunger, thirst, exhaustion, and so on. It doesn’t boil down to scavenging resources. Surviving on your own is hard; you’ll have to win over allies.
An uphill battle. Managing your bodily parameters may seem bearable at first, and as time goes by, it becomes harder and harder. Your own body is only waiting for an opportunity to give up and betray you. Things are changing from bad to worse and the odds are stacked against you.
A duel with an enemy you can’t kill. Your main foe is the plague itself, an incorporeal and malevolent entity that you have to defeat… without having the means to. It’s more powerful and more treacherous than you can imagine.
Loot, murder, mug, steal, barter, beg… or don’t. You need resources to survive, and it’s up to you how to obtain them.
The fights are short, ungraceful, and vicious. They’re not always lethal though. Many people—yourself included—would prefer to exchange their wallet for their life.

I'll start with a quote from the developer:

Many games claim to tell a compelling story where your choices matter. This may be the best game to actually deliver on that promise. Whereas others give a binary or multiple choice option, Pathologic ties it's decisions to your words and actions, actual game mechanics instead of button prompts. And the choices are not always straight forward, and are never as black and white as many others.

Good games tend to have some challenge: they force you to improve your reflexes or strategy in order to win, and this makes your victory more satisfying.

I've had a very hard time thinking of what I'd write for Pathologic 2, despite the fact that there are so many reviews by now that no one will probably ever see this one. But, I feel compelled to write something for it because it's gotten deep into my bones now and it's not showing any sign of departing soon. It also just feels like it deserves a review.

This game is so weird that I don't know if this counts as a story spoiler:

absolutely love this game, the atmosphere and story are incredible and truly immerse you in the world. the difficulty is brutal, but that only helps to further push you into the shoes of your character and the world you are constantly being drawn into. Easily worth every penny spent on the game as I've sunk many hours into it and am already halfway through my second play through and excited for my third. if you have any hesitation about this game then go ahead and try it for the 2 hours steam allows fro refunds. I GUARANTEE you will be hooked by then.

Go buy the goddamn game, I want 2 additional storylines to further drag me into an epidemic, a misery without bounds and that is where you come in - If you don't I will curse you and use Flamethrower on you until you grilled gud, you is warned.

An absolute marvel of a game. It might have "2" in its name, but is basically a remake of the first game, without the need to touch the predecessor at all.

This game is an incredible experience, go in as blindly as you can, half the fun is figuring out the arcane rules that govern this reality. I kickstarted this game years ago, and only recently played it, and man oh man it is awesome. Please buy and support this game so these developers can continue making art.

It's an amazing game that you're probably going to put two playthroughs into with just one character, and there are two more characters on the way with their own campaigns.

Amazing game, a worthy successor to the classic remake. Other reviews are in more detail, but I want to give them my thumbs up.

incredible ♥♥♥ game your doing yourself a huge disservice if you dont get it

This is one of the most unique gaming experiences I've had in 20+ years of gaming. The story, sound, and aesthetics combine to create a superb presentation overall. Highly recommended to jump in blind and not change the difficulty to get the full experience.

Prime example of video games as art and one of the best stories ever told period. Not much else like it. 11/10. Have bought 3 copies so far and I don't plan on stopping. Need those other two characters!

Pathologic 2 is a work of art, I have played the original over and over again, and when I heard this was coming I was so excited. I am so happy with the way it looks and the atmosphere, its also a lot easier to play than the original. The characters were even better too, though still familiar. I'm glad that they added the difficulty settings, because I want others to like it and enjoy it enough so that they can release The Bachelor and Changeling story lines. It is full of intriguing mythology and dialogue and I highly recommend this and the original
