About This Game
Forget everything you know about first-person shooters: Void Bastards asks you to take charge, not just point your gun and fire. Your task is to lead the rag-tag Void Bastards out of the Sargasso Nebula. You make the decisions: where to go, what to do and who to fight. And then you must carry out that strategy in the face of strange and terrible enemies.
On board derelict spaceships you’ll plan your mission, taking note of the ship layout, what hazards and enemies you might encounter and what terminals and other ship systems you can use to your advantage..
Move carefully through the dangerous ships, searching for supplies and manipulating control systems. React to what you find - will you detour to the generator to bring the power back online or will you fight your way into the security module to disable the ship’s defenses? Choose carefully when to fight, when to run and when just to be a bastard.
Use your hard won supplies to improvise tools and weapons, from the distracting robo-kitty to the horribly unstable clusterflak.
Navigate your tiny escape pod through the vast nebula. Flee from void whales and pirates, and politely avoid the hungry hermits. All the while you must keep scavenging for the food, fuel, and other resources that keep you alive.
Void Bastards features a 12-15 hour campaign that you can complete with an endless supply of prisoners, each with their own unique traits. When one dies, another steps forward to carry on the fight. Don’t worry though, as any crafting progress you’ve made is retained from one to another.

Void Bastards user review
Great Concept for a game that I'd give a positive review if it were more fleshed out. Playing for a few hours and everything gets so repetitive that its a chore to play. Ship design, enemies, items, tasks are all seen in a few hours. Irritation and boredom caused me to stop playing.
This is great fun for about an hour after which it's just a slog. Great looking game, nice production but just not enough here to justify full price.
Some stuff I posted elsewhere after playing just a couple hours:
Fun rogue-lite.
Very nice game, stable, original, fun, dynamic gameplay... The rogue-lite part is very well done, I had a lot of pleasure exploring the different wreckages and trying my new weapons, gathering stuff to evolve... Graphics are lovely, reminding me of XIII. The only thing I would have to say is that I finished it in 15 hours (I mean unlocked all the upgrades as well) I expected a bit more but that was intense and I hope there will be some more content, well done to the devs :D
I liked this quite a bit! It's a fun roguelike, and I liked the core gameplay, but the "right" choices are obvious and weapon selection and ability to change up bad choices is limited, which discourages a lot of experimentation. I built all the weapons but I think I only tried out maybe 40% of them. I would say that the story overstays its welcome if you decide to build every single thing for completion's sake, but that's more my fault than theirs. Still, it's fun, I'm hoping for DLC or a sequel so I can justify playing it again.
I dont write reviews much. but god damn is this game amazing.
An enjoyable undercooked game.
I didn't expect so much from this 30€ indie game. But boy, it delivered.
This is more a 50-50 that a pure negative. This game does a lot right but sadly, the gameplay isn't one of those things.
Simple and short game. Its not worth that price, it have very little content. And they already made pay DLC. They want just rob you. This game is waste of money.
The game is good, plenty of content for its price, enjoyable gameplay and awesome visual style.
Good but it can even be better.
I loved this game. While I didn't feel it necessary to do the challenge runs. Game was fun with a great sense of humor the not so great ending. I would play though it again, and I really love the aesthetic too. It has tight FPS controls and there is strategy involved in winning. I found some parts of the game unfair due to the ships being made with RNG but most challenges seem doable. I recommend that if you start this game pay attention to everything you can click, I didn't know you could make/sell items until I had beaten the story.
Had my third hydrated who wouldn't stop hearing voices. This is a good game.
For the first few hours Void Bastards seems like a fun, quirky game, but then (4-6 hours later for me) the repetitiveness sets in and you realize that these ships (where all the action takes place) are practically identical. Their layouts may differ a bit, but they still all look the same, and there's nothing else to spice up the game, 'cos guns aren't fun to use and the enemy variety's also not that great. Sure, there're different situations that can occur even in such limited environment, but I've dealt with only two types of them, roughly speaking - an easy run or a total cluster♥♥♥♥. And I got tired of both.
this game is fantastic! its underrated really. combine borderlands and bioshock with space survival elements and you get this game. i normally try before i buy games and i committed and made the purchase shortly after DLC and more updates were released.
This game is great! Every ship is fresh and challenging. I love it how many ways there are to approach the levels. Though I may not quite appreciate the humour and artwork, the underlying gameplay completely overshadows whatever small gripes I have with it. I have had so many exhilarating moments with this game already - 30 seconds oxygen left, just found the part I need, not much health and I have to leg it back to the airlock to board my ship before I die. Amazing stuff!
